Learn and Grow: SEP best-practice training delivered to management
In May of this year, two of Veritas Marine's senior management attended a 2 day Self-Elevating Platform (SEP) managers' course arranged by IJUBOA. The course was delivered by both DNV and IJUBOA at the Maersk Training Centre in Dubai and included sessions on Maersk simulators. The training sought to reinforce IJUBOA's overarching mission statement:
- To promote a safe industry - safe for its people, for the environment and for society at large.
- To promote a learning industry - with the skilled and professional workforce essential for the safe and efficient operation of jack-up barges.
- To promote a reputable industry - responsive to the needs of its customers and committed to continuous improvement.
In attendance was Veritas Marine's Managing Director, Arran Watson who commented, "The IJUBOA Managers Course was a great opportunity for us to reinforce and consolidate our knowledge-base for SEP operations. Not only did it give us both the additional understanding of the scopes we work on, but we also met with other SEP operators and shared experiences and learnings. We will now take the training into the workplace to improve our operations as well as strive to build competence company-wide with further training opportunites."
IJUBOA was formed in 2008, with a mission to set, sustain and promote standards for the safe and effective operation of self-elevating platforms throughout the world.
Established in 2002, Veritas Marine provides vessels for charter and other marine services in the Caspian Sea, notably in the oil & gas and construction sectors. Veritas Marine are also IJUBOA certifed gold standard members managing multiple SEPs in the Caspian Sea.
